Kingston Building Partners with Career Links YAKKA Program for Construction Immersion Day
On Friday 16th August, Kingston Building proudly partnered with the Career Links YAKKA Program to host an immersive day in the construction industry for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students.
The event began at our office, where Samantha, one of Kingston’s first-year carpentry apprentices, shared her experiences and insights from her apprenticeship journey. Arthur from the MBA Apprenticeship Program also provided valuable information on various career pathways available to students after they finish school and what they can do during school to assist their construction journey.
The day continued with visits to three of our active construction sites. Here, the students had the unique opportunity to see firsthand what a typical day on a commercial construction site looks like. Our site teams enthusiastically welcomed the students, guiding them through the projects and sharing in-depth knowledge about the construction process.
The event was a resounding success, thanks to the collaboration between Kingston Building, Career Links, and Lambton High School. Our team found the day highly rewarding, and we hope that the students left with a newfound understanding and interest in the construction industry.
We look forward to hosting similar events with Career Links and the YAKKA Program in the future.
