2026 YAKKA Immersion Day!

2026 YAKKA Immersion Day!

Kingston Building proudly hosted another Immersion Day in collaboration with the Career Links YAKKA program, welcoming Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students for a hands-on introduction to the construction industry.

The day kicked off at Kingston’s Head Office, where students were welcomed by our team and gained insight into the construction industry, the different roles involved in delivering a project, and the variety of career pathways available.

We were also pleased to welcome Luke from Maxwell Recruitment & Training, who spoke with students about his own experiences and shared insight into the partnership between Kingston and Maxwell and the opportunities available within the industry.

Students then headed out to one of Kingston’s active construction sites, where they were taken on a site tour by our Site Supervisor and given a firsthand look at the day-to-day operations of a live construction project. They also had the opportunity to hear from Samantha, one of our carpentry apprentices, who shared her own journey from participating in the YAKKA program to beginning her apprenticeship and becoming part of the Kingston team.

A big thank you to Career Links, Maxwell Recruitment & Training, our Kingston team and everyone involved in making today’s Immersion Day possible.

We’re proud to continue supporting initiatives like YAKKA, helping young people gain real-world exposure to the construction industry and discover the many career pathways available to them.
