Mount Hutton For-Purpose Home Completion

Mount Hutton For-Purpose Home Completion

Thursday, 3 August 2023, marked the completion of our Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) home in Mount Hutton.

We were joined by KBA Group Director, Col Robards, and Aruma Chief Operating Officer, Tiffany Roxburgh, to celebrate the occasion. The 3-bedroom SDA home in Mount Hutton stands as a remarkable achievement, born from the collaborative efforts of Kingston Building Pty Ltd, Aruma, and KBA Group.

This residence was thoughtfully designed and constructed to meet the standards of the NDIS Specialist Disability Accommodation program, with a particular focus on the High Physical Support Guidelines. The goal was to create a secure and inviting space for three individuals, enabling them to lead independent lives with the necessary support.

This project stands out for its unique approach, wherein KBA Group secured the land, Kingston Building brought the home to life through construction, and Aruma serves as the dedicated service-provider. Such a collective effort ensures that every aspect of the home caters to the specific needs of its residents, promoting a high quality of life and enhanced sense of autonomy.

Upon completion, the home boasts three spacious bedrooms, each thoughtfully designed with fully accessible ensuite facilities. Additionally, two well-appointed living areas and an outdoor alfresco area offer ample space for relaxation and recreation. Speciality features include:

  • Wider doorways
  • Greater circulation spaces to each room
  • Seamless transitions throughout – bedroom to bathroom to balcony
  • Hoist beams within roof cavity for future use
  • Accessible kitchen, including an adjustable benchtop
  • Power points to each window and door for future use for the ease of installation of automatic blinds or doors
  • All sanitary ware is accessible compliant
  • Power back up power points in each bedroom, in case of blackouts
  • Power Points positioned at accessible heights.

The strategically chosen location places it in close proximity to essential amenities, such as a shopping centre, hospitality venues, public transportation, and both public and private hospitals.

The 3-bedroom SDA home in Mount Hutton sets an outstanding example of collaboration and innovation in the realm of disability accommodation. It not only meets the required standards but goes above and beyond to provide a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment for its residents, making it a truly commendable achievement for all involved parties.

Our gratitude goes out to our Project Team, led by Project Manager, David Schlosser, and Site Manager, Grant King, as well as the sub-contractors, consultants and all who worked with us on the project.

We look forward to working collaborating with Aruma on the for-purpose homes in Wyee, NSW.
