Kingston Building was engaged to complete the demolition of the existing and construction of a new 5,000m2 GFA Police Station with alterations and additions to the adjacent courthouse.

The works were over a site area of approximately 4,000m² required the installation of a waterproof secant piled basement retention system and subsequent removal of 25,000m³ of excavation material.

Existing Police property was relocated and subsequently brought back from several suburban stations including Charlestown, Toronto and Swansea.

The facility comprised:

• Ground floor reception, charge area, holding cells and general duties
• Administration and amenities including fully equipped gymnasium and training facilities over levels 2 and 3
• New courthouse facilities and holding rooms
• The 4 level concrete framed structure incorporated a watertight raft slab and 3 levels of post tensioned slabs, concrete columns, walls, 2 fire stairs and a passenger lift.
• The façade was made up of face and rendered brickwork, metal and FC cladding and intricate sun shades across the north elevation.
• Services included security to NSW Police Force specifications, full fire sprinkler protection, passenger lift, comms/data.
• Diversion of HWC sewer, new onsite substation
• Full furniture and equipment fit out and training program.

The project was completed on time and within budget within a 64 week program.
