Kingston Building was engaged by Health Infrastructure NSW to deliver a comprehensive design and construction project at Wyong Hospital.
The project scope included completing the remaining 25% of the design and delivering construction works across three key areas:
- A new Bed Repair Store facility Refurbishment of Maternity Services, including three overnight stay rooms
- Upgrade of the High Dependency Unit (HDU), incorporating medical support facilities and staff amenities
Working within a live hospital environment, the project demanded detailed planning, risk management, and ongoing stakeholder engagement to ensure minimal disruption to essential health services.
Throughout the project, Kingston Building demonstrated innovation and value engineering. Key examples include:
- Fire-Rated Boxed Ceilings: Rather than constructing full height smoke walls with structural supports, fire-rated boxed ceilings and walls were used in the overnight rooms. This approach met compliance requirements while reducing both construction complexity and costs.
- Bed Store Redesign: The layout of the Bed Repair Store was revised, shifting the footprint away from the existing corridor wall. This allowed for the inclusion of a new link door and reduced the extent of demolition required, generating further cost savings.
Kingston Building successfully delivered all project components on time and to a high standard of quality and compliance.
