The project is a 4 storey commercial building undertaken as a design and construct contract for Hargreaves Property Management, with the Department of Family and Community Services being the end user.

As an Australian Government building, it was required to be 4.5 Star NABERS rated and therefore required the design to incorporate many environmentally sustainable and energy efficient features. The building was also built on a derelict service station site that had a number of environmental challenges to overcome, including contamination and hydrocarbon remediation works prior to construction.

The site location also played a major role in the design and material selection with high voltage power lines surrounding the corner site. The construction methodology and this selection of building materials by the project team during the design phase, highlighted Kingston’s innovation and required specialist skills in order to enable an efficient construction program whilst still maintaining a tight budget.

The project was completed on time and budget after an 11 month construction period, with the client and end user thoroughly impressed with the quality of the completed project.
