A refurbishment and upgrade was completed to the existing grandstand at Mitchell Park. This included complete demolition of the roof structure in order to increase the floor area and add a new enclosed entertainment area overlooking the oval. The works also included upgrades to the change room facilities, a new gym, a new mezzanine level and lift to service three levels. The structural works included detailed upgrades to existing structures and footings.
The Contract works included the following scope items:
- Demolition of existing roof structure and external walls
- Installation of new footings within the footprint of the existing building
- Installation of new structural system to support enlarged grandstand roof and new viewing level
- Build of new gym, mezzanine and lift
- Build of new enclosed viewing room and outside viewing decks.
The project was completed for the City of Newcastle for the use of local sporting clubs and the community.
