The Wyee Group Homes project included the construction of three newly built SDA group homes, catering to residents with disabilities under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Two of the homes are Improved Liveability Homes, while the third is a High Physical Support Home, specifically tailored for individuals with a higher level of physical disabilities.
The homes were built within the Stevens Group Radcliffe Development in Wyee, a growing community of approximately 700 houses. The Stevens Group generously donated the building blocks as part of their community give-back initiative for the estate.
Key Project Features
The homes were constructed with key features such as concrete foundations and slabs, timber frames and trusses, Colorbond roofing, and durable internal finishes, including tiled and vinyl flooring.
The project faced challenges, including strict ‘Class 3’ NCC requirements that mandated certified professionals and limited design flexibility. Ground issues required foundation adjustments, affecting room layouts. A staggered construction schedule improved efficiency, and roof trusses were adapted for future ceiling-mounted patient lifting beams to enhance mobility.
This project demonstrates innovative problem solving, strict regulatory compliance, and strong community collaboration, resulting in high quality homes for people with disabilities. Through close cooperation between the client, contractors, and community stakeholders, the homes were built efficiently and cost effectively while fully adhering to NDIS standard.
