Shelley Beach Golf Club Kitchen

Hospitality
The Shelley Beach project focused on developing a new space within the dining area of the Shelly Beach Golf Club.

This included a designated area for customers to order and collect their food, as well as a pass-through area for kitchen staff to deliver food directly to the dining area, eliminating the need for bar staff to enter the kitchen.

The project required breaking through a kitchen wall to install custom stainless-steel joinery, featuring heat lamps to keep food warm. The installation also comprised a large L-shaped bench with cabinetry below for point-of-sale functionality, a food pickup area, and a coffee station. Additionally, new scallop wall lining and decorative Tasmanian oak V-groove boards were added for a refined finish.

Key Design Features & Materials

A holistic approach guided the design of the new kitchen area, ensuring it met the functional needs of kitchen staff, bar staff, and patrons.

For kitchen staff, the servery’s benchtop and shelving were tailored to plate dimensions, with heat lamps positioned to maintain optimal food warmth. Bar staff benefited from a well-organised, durable point-of-sale area with sufficient circulation space to handle high traffic.

For patrons, the design featured high-quality materials and an L-shaped benchtop that streamlined ordering and serving, creating an efficient and welcoming space.

The Corian benchtop used for the point-of-sale joinery is typically made from laminate, timber, or stone. However, opting for an acrylic material provides significant advantages in long-term maintenance. In the event of scratches or small dents, an orbital sander can easily remove the top layer, restoring the surface to its original condition. Unlike timber or stone, no special equipment is needed, and the material can be maintained in place, which is especially beneficial considering its location within a clubhouse.
