Commercial Office

Kingston were pleased to partner with Hume Community Housing, the third-largest Tier 1 community housing provider in Australia to deliver their flagship premises in Maitland, the new heart of their Hunter Region Services.

After securing the largest housing transfer of the 14,000 properties involved in the Social Housing Management Transfer program (NSW, 2018), Hume Housing awarded Kingston the contract to construct their new offices in the central business district of Maitland. The project consisted of the demolition and fit out of a two storey, heritage zoned building with front of house facilities for new customers as well as back of house support facilities for a team of 45 new staff.

One key component of the construction was balancing the client brief and budget with the many compliance aspects of the build. In the hopes of retaining and updating as much of the internal floor plan as possible, Kingston helped guide the client within the parameters of the relevant heritage and disability access requirements to help keep their budget on track.

Key project components included:

  • Working and coordinating within a live environment with on-site staff and internal IT contractors
  • Delivering a modern Front of House facility for Hunter customers with bright contemporary colours, engaging graphics and signage
  • Aesthetically pleasing and functional Reception area joinery with mitred joined edges, timber feature hobs and LED cove lighting
  • Open plan office environments with large expanses of full height glazing and reused and altered workspace clusters.

Working to a challenging grand opening deadline, Kingston managed to successfully handover the project on budget and two weeks ahead of program.
