Message From The Directors, April 2023
The last 12 months have been dynamic to say the least! With labour shortages in the subcontractor market and unprecedented material and labour cost escalations, experiences in the construction industry have been, in recent times, like riding a rollercoaster.
It was a challenging time that tested our resolve, highlighted our strengths, and showed us where we could continue to improve. Despite the difficulties that faced the industry, we are pleased to say that our talented teams have navigated the waves and delivered some outstanding projects for exceptional clients.
Statements from clients such as “As always, Kingston have smashed it!” embody the reasons why we are so excited to be leading such a professional team that thrives on going the extra mile to ensure stakeholder satisfaction on every project.
Kingston has delivered some spectacular projects across a variety of sectors within the industry, recently highlighted by the handover of:
- 5 school projects, including Inverell High, Quirindi Public, Kurri Kurri High, Francis Greenway High and Rutherford High;
- A 22 unit vertical retirement village for Oak Tree Group;
- Retail offerings for SCA (Shopping Centres Australia), Aldi & Maxi Save and;
- Local Government projects for both Newcastle City Council and Lake Macquarie City Councils.
We thrive on realising our Company Values, which incorporate the mantra of People, Planet and Performance, and we are proud of the achievements of our staff in achieving and exceeding our goals. To date this year we have had a number of fantastic events that highlight our Corporate Social Responsibility’s vision of “giving to receiving”, including such events as our Director Matt Howard riding 1,000 km from Coffs Harbour to Noosa on the cycling Tour de Cure raising money for Cancer, our sponsoring of Camp Quality, and partnering with Career Links to provide opportunity and direction to school students who are interested in pathways to the Construction Industry.
Another fantastic achievement for Kingston has been our wins at the 2022 Master Builders Association Excellence in Building Awards for the Hunter Warbirds Museum & Scone Memorial Airport project and the 2022 HIA Awards in both the Specialised Housing and Affordable Housing categories for our 34 unit development at Toukley. Bring on the National HIA Awards in May in which we have been nominated in the Affordable Housing category!
With an exciting forward workload in both Minor & Major Works, 2023 is shaping up as a great opportunity to continue to deliver landmark projects for wonderful clients.
