The project, which involved the design & construction of 17 units under the Community Housing Scheme was undertaken as a full development, including:

• Purchasing the land
• Completing the concept design
• Procuring an Community Housing Provider to purchase the development
• Obtaining the Development Approval
• Construction documentation
• Turnkey delivery of the development.

Completed during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in June 2020, the design and construction processes had to accommodate for significant issues including a heritage overlay on the site requiring archaeologists to witness and sign-off on all in-ground works, remediation of highly contaminated ground conditions resulting from the previous use of the site as a car yard, without removing any contaminated material from the site and the need to upgrade power to the site by installing new power poles and a transformer along High Street (the main street of Maitland).

Utilising a variety of materials to create interest in the façade the quality associated with the specifications created a vibrant and visually interesting building which included a high spec’d internal finish, including stone benchtops, which created high quality standards of living for the occupants and a communal rooftop terrace.
